Destiny 2’s first big DLC functionally removes content from the game

Content that was previously playable by all Destiny 2 owners is now locked behind a DLC paywall.

In a move that is by any reading fairly scummy, Destiny 2 players are finding that the game’s first DLC has locked away previously-accessible content.
Previously, all players were able to run the Leviathan raid on all difficulties, including Prestige difficulty. Now that the game’s Curse of Osiris DLC is out, though, players can’t access the Prestige difficulty of the raid unless they own the DLC.
This isn’t a first for the series. Something similar happened in the first Destiny when it launched its DLC, most notably with The Taken King. Fans were upset at the time, and fans continue to be upset now that it’s clear the second game is following in the original’s footsteps.
The Curse of Osiris DLC adds a decent amount of content to the game, including a new raid mode, but players are understandably peeved about needing to pay $19.99 to unlock content that was previously available to anyone with the base game. Fans have taken to expressing their disappointment on the game’s subreddit, with one thread reaching over 1,300 comments, and on the official forums.
Whether these complaints will be enough to grab the attention of Bungie, however, remains to be seen.

  1. Same thing happened with both House of Wolves and The Taken War...No big deal

  2. This is a simple issue, and you’re missing WHY this has happened- The power cap for those activities have been raised, and those who have no purchased the DLC do not have access to the required gear to raise their light and level. This is not some money grab BS.

This is the same thing that’s happened in the past. Besides, If you’re complaining about $20 for content that you will inevitably spend hours upon hours playing (raid etc) with friends- You’ve got bigger problems.

    1. This IS a money grab. When you pay $60 for content, then lose that content because of an expansion release that will cost you another $20 to get it back.. that is wrong. You are essentially paying $80 for the game in the long run. And about $10 of that is to get content you already purchased once.

  3. Well this is why people should be invested in the digital deluxe version or the season pass. For a game you know is notorious for stuff like this but you also know you're going to put some serious hours into, it's only logical. The only people complaining are the dumbasses that only bought the base game of a game franchise they knew they'd be putting time into. Smh.
